Earlier this month we were delighted to sponsor and participate in an event to mark the beginning of Guildford Walkfest 2026.
Now in its 21st year, this walking festival is firmly embedded in the social diary of the many hundreds of walkers, and lovers of the great outdoors. With more than 60 guided walks taking place across the entire Borough, it’s a great way to get out and about in the glorious towns, villages and countryside of an area that we are proud to call ‘home’.
The opening event was held at Mandira’s Kitchen, next to the stunning Silent Pool in Albury, a stone’s throw from our offices in West Horsley, and what a glorious day we had.
The Mayor of Guildford, Jane Tyson cut the ribbon and we then enjoyed a brisk walk, along with Honey and Dora of course, before returning to Mandira’s Kitchen for some very well earned chai and samosas.
The walk itself was led by Christine Howard, Chair of Visit Surrey taking us on a circular route via Albury Vineyard, Shere, and Woodlands Corner. It really is the most stunning area, and we would encourage anybody that has not already done so, to take your time and enjoy the scenery (and possibly the ice cream shop in Shere!)
As a financial services firm rooted in the heart of the Surrey Hills, we see first-hand how important strong local networks are for the small and medium‑sized businesses we serve. Events like Walkfest bring people together in a way that mirrors our own mission, to help individuals, families, and organisations feel confident, supported, and equipped for the journey ahead.
Whether it’s guiding a business through payroll complexities or helping a charity streamline its financial processes, our work is ultimately about enabling people to move forward with clarity and purpose.
Our location isn’t just convenient, it’s integral to who we are. Being based here means we’re close to the entrepreneurs shaping the areas future, the charities strengthening its social fabric, and the community groups that make the Surrey Hills such a welcoming place. We understand the rhythm of local business, the challenges faced by SMEs, and the importance of accessible, human financial support. Sponsoring Walkfest allows us to give something back to a region that has given us so much.
Walkfest also aligns with our belief in wellbeing as a cornerstone of good decision‑making.
Walking encourages reflection, reduces stress, and creates space for new ideas, all qualities that matter just as much in business as they do in everyday life. Many of our best conversations with clients happen when we step away from the desk and take a moment to breathe, think, and reconnect.
Ultimately, our sponsorship is a thank you to the Surrey Hills, to its businesses, its residents, and its community spirit. We’re proud to support an event that champions health, connection, and local pride, values that guide everything we do at Signpost Financials.
